E-6

Went to A&I lab the other day to drop off bunch of large format film, and was told that they are stopping all E-6 processing this month. A sad sad sign of the times… There’s still couple labs that do large format E-6 processing, however both are at least 25 miles away. Might have to start doing it by mail.

Sebastian was visiting LA last week, and I gave him the coastal tour from Laguna Beach to Santa Barbara. The weather was amazing, and driving along the pacific with the Z3 was a lot of fun.

Here’s a photo of Sebastian in front of the Santa Barbara Mission, shot with 4×5 Astia(E-6) film.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Celebrated Christmas with a quick trip to Seattle.
Here’s me practicing the art of bad tourist photography.

Halloween

Halloween was great this year.
Had no idea that there are so many kids in my neighborhood.

Vectoraster

Just got this little piece of software on MacUpdate promo called Vectoraster, and as the name suggest it creates vectors out of bitmaps. On top of the standard half-dot patterns, it does text and line rasters; and you can also change angle/curves of the lines, not just density. Most of all it’s really fun to play with!

Listerine Render

Here’s one from this morning, a render of the existing dispenser for listerine breath strips for a packaging redesign. It’s slightly simplified around the flap, but that’s probably better as it’ll likely be printed really small.
Can’t really make it much more precise as I’m not an industrial designer ;-)

listerine_pocketpak

I’ll need to do couple more renders for Listerine next week, all involving liquids; so I have hours of frustration with Realflow to look forward to…

I’m loving the new E-P3!

The touch screen focus is amazing, just tap on the eyes!

New Compact

Just got this new Olympus E-P3 with the 20mm lumix lens. It’s a pretty decent camera for snapshots, albeit little overpriced for what it is. Most importantly, it focuses fast enough that the doggies can’t escape! The touch screen focus is really great, you just tap on whatever you want focused on the screen, and it focuses and takes the photo. The 20mm does have nice shallow depth of field as well. The one bad thing is the OLED screen, which must be the worst display I’ve ever seen for color accuracy.
